Got a whole bunch of new stuff up on Poly.ie. Been so busy that I haven’t had a chance to post an update in months.

Included are:

The cool new Irish startup United We Save with some cute illustrations.
The Whiskeymarch (wish I could have been there) organised by the awesome Echolibre.
Wine Paradigm for the incredible Pocket Wine, (app which I also designed).
A logo for Skylight, a new online project management tool.
And finally Olive Academy, a brand new training web app from Olive Media.

Update: With a bit of Google’s help, I found the guy’s email. He says he just commissioned the site, and he got screwed by an outsourcing company. He removed the sites in minutes.

Update 2: Out of consideration I have removed links to their site and their name from this article. Benefit of the doubt and all that.

Well, I suppose its inevitable. And hilarious really.

My mobile app icon and interface design site app-bits.com just got completely and utterly plagarised. Not only did they completely rob the entire look of the site, they also completely ripped off the copy. The only thing changed was to add their logo, change app-bits to their name. The cherry on top? They had the where with all to update the Copyright message to have their name!

The email address on the site doesn’t work, the Whois doesn’t contain any information for me, (except for the name Name Removed) to get in touch with them, so I just have to call them out.

Dude, if you are reading this blog post and own this site, take it down. What a RIP.

Every so often Poly wants to give something back! Here’s a little desktop background for y’all.. I know its bizarre but I got a little Knight Rider inspired and thought Poly should have its own big rig to drive out of down the M50! You can download it here if you like it (1600 x 1200).

For someone that read a good deal of William Gibson and a host of other “cyberpunk” novels, this seems to be quite something! Google appears to have switched on an AI called Cadie, which is a “she”, and also has her own homepage. 

This got me to looking around at some Gibson links and I found some great book covers for Neuromancer over the past two decades. 

Best of all, I thought, were these three for the Brazilian published editions of the entire series.

I think I may have to grab these books again just to prepare for when Google’s AI goes sentient and tries to control our destiny. This being the first of April, I think we can probably relax a little. But still, you never know..

Got a new piece of artwork for you hot off the Poly press! Sometimes you just have to make a break and get out of town. Whether its to breathe the fresh country air, to see the family or to escape a giant mantis with a taste for buildings and big American cars. Whatever happened to the old days of drawing a moustache and a pair of glasses (or some prudent anatomical sketches) to ads in the underground?

Seriously this stuff is inspired. Great concept that aims to try to show up the weird airbrushed pastiches that are models in modern advertising.

If only I had seen that I could have had a slab pillow!
